What this is for
The contract arrives as a PDF, page 4 wants your signature - and the usual route runs through printer, pen and scanner. Here you sign right in the browser - with mouse, finger or pen - or load a photo of your signature. Then drag it where it belongs, done.
The white background disappears. A photo of a signature is a signature on white paper. On the page, that paper would cover the line and the printed name beside it. The tool makes the background transparent and crops the empty margin - only the ink is left, in its own colour.
The rest of the PDF stays as it was. Text stays text and can still be selected and searched. The signature is added as a picture, nothing else changes.
And since it is your signature: it does not leave your device. All of the work happens in the browser.
Common questions
No. The picture of your signature and the PDF stay in your browser. With a signature of all things, anything else would be a poor bargain.
No. What goes in is a picture of your signature - much like a signed fax or scan. For many purposes that is enough, such as a signed form or an order confirmation. Where the law requires written form or a qualified electronic signature, it is not.
Yes. Switch to "Draw" in the side panel and sign in the white field - with mouse or trackpad on a computer, with a finger or a stylus on a tablet or phone. A pressure-sensitive stylus makes the line thicker or thinner with pressure. The signature is redrawn at high resolution for the PDF, so it stays sharp in print too.
Sign a white sheet, ideally with a dark pen, and photograph it from above in good light. The tool does the rest: it makes the paper transparent and crops the margin.
Then untick "Remove the white background". The picture is placed exactly as it is.
Yes. Place the signature as often as you need - initials on every page and the full signature at the end, for example.
Any change invalidates an existing digital signature, including a placed signature picture. The tool spots this and tells you beforehand.
