Measure distances in a PDF
Click two points, read the distance - true to scale, on building plans too.
Stays on your device – Measuring happens in your browser. Your PDF is not uploaded - plans and drawings included.

The length on paper comes from the PDF itself. For a scan, or a plan printed "fit to page", it is off - then measure a known length and use it as the reference.

What this is for
How wide is the door on the floor plan, how long the wall, does the wardrobe fit the alcove? Click two points of the PDF and get the distance - in millimetres, centimetres, metres or, for a plan from the US, in inches and feet.
True to scale, because the PDF knows its size. A PDF stores its paper size exactly, so every line on the page has a real length. For a plan you enter the drawing scale, say 1:100, and get the length in reality.
And if the paper size is off? For a scan or a plan printed "fit to page", measure a length you know - a dimensioned wall or a scale bar - and use it as the reference. The scale follows from it, and every measurement uses it.
The measurements stay on the page as lines with a number, can be moved, recoloured and removed, and are saved as PDF or JPEG at the end. The PDF does not leave your device.
Common questions
No. The file is read, measured and saved in your browser. Building plans and drawings are nobody else's business.
As accurate as the PDF and your click. The paper size is stored exactly in the file; the zoom lets you hit points precisely even on large plans. Hold Shift to snap the line horizontal, vertical or to 45 degrees.
The scale printed on the plan: 100 for 1:100, 50 for 1:50. At 1 the paper itself is measured - right for forms, labels and drawings at 1:1.
The paper size of a scan depends on the scanner and is often off. Measure a length you know and choose "Use as reference" in the list. Enter the real length and the tool works out the scale.
The original PDF, unchanged, with the measurements drawn on top as lines and numbers. Text stays text and can still be selected. As JPEG you get one image per page.
Not yet. Some CAD programs store their own measure information in the PDF; the tool measures the paper and uses the scale you enter or set through a reference.
