Small Things Sorted

Convert a list

Lines become a list separated by commas, semicolons or pipes.

What you type is processed in your browser and never sent to us.

How to do it

  1. Paste your text

Drop your lines into the left field. One entry per line.

  2. Pick a separator

Comma, semicolon, pipe or a space – whatever the target expects.

  3. Copy the result

One click puts the finished list on your clipboard.

What this is for

Copy a column out of a spreadsheet and you get one entry per line – but what you usually need is a single line, for a database query, a mail merge field or a configuration file. That is the step this tool takes off your hands.

Line breaks, commas and semicolons all count as separators in what you paste, so there is no need to tidy up first. Empty entries drop out, and so does stray whitespace at either end.

Common questions

No. Everything happens in your browser; nothing is sent to us.

Yes – single or double quotes, which is what most database queries want.

Only if you ask: switch on “remove duplicates” and each entry appears once.

No fixed one. Everything runs in your browser, so the limit depends on your device; a few tens of thousands of lines are no trouble.
